The Crips
By: Jesa Delos Reyes
The Domestic Terrorist Group that I chose was “The Crips” . The Crips was primarily made up African-Americans,and was formed to protect their neighborhoods. They formed the gang back in the 1970’s. They are located all over the U.S. but was originally from Los Angeles,California. The crips are located on military bases around the world. The Crips are one of the largest and most violent associations of street gangs in the United States. Their clothing color is blue which is a tribute to their fellow gang member that was shot and killed.
The Crips targeted people who were a threat to their neighborhood. They had no official belief system or a schedule. They only went into action when it was needed and impulse, without thinking of how it would affect people around them. They mainly battled with other gangs such as the “Bloods” and some “Chicano” gangs. The gang is known to be involved in murders, robberies, drug dealing, a lot of many other criminal pursuits.
Although the crips are a major problem in communities, the people have fought back. They have done many things to help themselves and others in their community with the help of government officials and the police. Other gangs also got involved with crips, such as the “Bloods” and “Chicanos.” The violence between the gangs have called for increasing police action in starting crime units whose only purpose is to break down on gangs.
