Al-Qaeda
By:Jesa Delos Reyes
The International Terrorist Group that I chose was the “Al Qaeda” terrorist group. The group was founded by Osama Bin Laden back in 1988. The origin of Al Qaeda would be from Soviet Union in Afghanistan. This terrorist group is located in Pakistan, which is on the Eastern side of the world.
The Al Qaeda’s goals are to overthrow the Muslim rulers that believe that in an islamic caliphate across the world. They attacked civilians and military targets in different countries. The places that they have attacked includes the 9/11 attack that happened back in 2001. Al Qaeda also was the mastermind of the 1988 U.S Embassy bombings and the 2002 Bali bombings.
Finding and capturing members of Al Qaeda has been on the top of the priority list since the 911 attacks on the twin towers. The U.S has fought back by tracking down and killing Osama Bin Laden. Bin Laden is the leader Al Qaeda and the loss of his presence has greatly decreased attacks by the terrorist group. Along with killing the terrorist groups’ leader, the United States has also made more strict laws on transportation and increased security in airports.
